THe basic requirements for admissions include:

A first degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.7 for Theology Programmes and 3.0 for all other programmes.

If a student possesses a Diploma of high standing and wishes to pursue further studies at CGST, he/she is admitted provisionally as a Degree Equivalent Student and is guided through a process of acquiring an additional thirty [30] semester credit hours at an accredited institution with a B+ or above average before being able to matriculate into the Master’s Program of their choice.

CGST requires a Statement of Purpose from each applicant entering into a degree programme. This is used to determine the applicant’s goals, perspectives, and faith commitments. This document also helps to provide an integrated profile of the applicant, including the applicant’s faith experience, current ministry involvement, if any, and an indication of how pursuing the programme of their choice at the Graduate School will help to fulfil their vocational goals. The standard for this Statement is a 1-2 page narrative outlining the items mentioned above.

Each applicant is also required to submit recommendations from their current Pastor or person who provides Pastoral leadership over them, present employer or a professional peer, and an academic advisor. Additionally, two passport-size photographs and official transcripts from all previous tertiary level educational institutions are required. The official transcripts must be received in sealed envelopes and submitted directly to CGST either directly from the institution or delivered by the application.

Admissions Process

The admissions process of the Graduate School are clearly defined and explicitly articulated in a step-by-step approach. This process is also documented and communicated to prospective students in the application package and explained in personal interviews.

The Admissions process of the Graduate School is generally conducted along the following lines:

Once interest is demonstrated in attending the school and a prospective applicant is documented, a letter along with an application package is given to the prospective candidate either via email or available for pick up.

A follow-up call is made to assist with any other information that might be needed to guide the prospective student through the application process.

Prospective students who indicate a commitment to enroll at CGST are further assisted through a carefully designed step-by-step process, as outlined below.

Step 1

In making an application to enter the Graduate School, applicants are required to complete and submit an application form, along with the following accompanying documents:

  • Recommendations from their current Pastor, an Employer/Professional Peer and an Academic Advisor.
  • A written Statement of Purpose of one [1] to two [2] pages in length. The Statement should include their Faith experience, if any, current ministry involvement, if any, and why attending CGST will be helpful in fulfilling God’s calling upon their life.
  • Academic transcript
  • Health records
  • Two passport-size
  • Photographs
  •

Step 2

Once all the relevant documents are submitted, the file is initially reviewed to determine if it can move to the next part of the admissions process. If so, an interview is set with the Head of Department to which the prospective student has applied. This requirement is integral to the assessment of the applicant’s suitability to join the program applied for.

Step 3

If the applicant is successful in the interview, the Department Head recommends the type of acceptance a student will obtain and the relevant letter of acceptance is sent to the applicant.

Step 4

The successful applicant is then invited to the New Student Orientation which is held several weeks before the new academic year begins. It is believed that as students are introduced to the overall ethos, culture and processes of the Institution, their time spent at the Graduate school will be enhanced.
